It is a town located in the northern sector of the Aysén Region, inserted in the heart of Chilean Patagonia and founded in 1935 by a group of young and adventurous Germans, who arrived in search of new horizons to these virgin and almost unexplored lands, with evergreen forests, ancient glaciers and an unpredictable climate.
Puyuhuapi in its essence is formed by the fusion of two cultures; the Chilota, consisting of workers who arrived from the Isla Grande de Chiloé, and the German culture. This is mainly reflected in its gastronomy, being the Puyuhuapinas skilled cooks when preparing a delicious German kuchen.
As a result, a group of neighbors belonging to the local Council of Culture, and in collaboration with the Municipality of Cisnes, developed for several seasons the traditional festival “Between Curanto and Kuchen“, highly anticipated by all Ayseninos, as it presented the most delicious curantos and a contest for the best kuchen, with participants from various sectors of the region.

The climate in Puyuhuapi has abundant rainfall throughout the year reaching a rainfall of about 3,500 ml. per year.
Its rainforest, called Selva Valdiviana, allows its landscapes to be always green, offering a spectacle full of flora and friendly fauna such as the chucao, a typical bird of these forests, which is very curious and always comes out to welcome visitors to its forests.
When you come to Puyuhuapi do not forget to come with clothing for all types of weather, so you will enjoy your visit to the fullest.
Puyuhuapi has a police station, a health center, mechanical workshop, airfield, transfer, civil registry, fire station and much more.
